1 Star? Milenial dooosh-baaag! Yes, Singular Sound flubbed the release in the style of "Sony Playstation" releases. But how was the actual product? Ok...I'll help you out with a review because I love this product and I want to see these guys continue making the product in the future.
I think the BeatBuddy 2 is an awesome and a worthy upgrade from the Beatbuddy Anniversary Edition. Love it. I use it to make my practice a little more interesting with this and the Aeros Looper. Practicing new chord transitions, scales & progressions isn't fun per se, but throw a little beat into the mix and it becomes more lively. The BeatBuddy 2 is my favorite on my pedal board as it adds a new "breath of fresh air" to the practice sessions. The BeatBuddy 2 is also easier to use than say a Boss looper. I tried a few and sent them back to the shop. This one is a keeper for the visuals, sound and ease of use.
If I were to add a little bit of honest criticism, I would say that they could make this more like an Apple product. Updating the firmware isn't obvious on how to do it and requires a dive into the manual. This is my thought here, just like the "one star dingle-berry" below, BUT it's constructive. They could fix this. In addition, Singular Sound doesn't really offer too many explanations as to how to get their Beat Boutique or Beat Monkey, or what ever it's called, onto your new BeatBuddy 2. Where's the USB cable connect? Well there isn't one...remove the SD card and stick it in your computer...etc...etc...etc. They could have explained this better. Oh and they could have said to insert the SD card or the unit won't work. Ok...kind of kidding...kind of serious. They could have made getting started easier with a quick-start guide. What about a screen protector?! There's an opportunity to make more money! I have this pedal on my pedal board and I am on occasion known to drop a 1/4" cable end....yikes that's a scary moment when that happens. Anyhow, that's the worse things that I can say about this product...clearly a 5 star review overall.
I also use the Aeros Looper as a "sketching notebook" for base and guitar rhythm & melodies. I just save different "sounds" and later I consider putting some of these "science-projects" together with other parts to make a new song. Sometimes my ideas work...most of the time they don't...hehe. But it's nice to be able to recall ideas and lay new ones down.
So 5 stars is definitely a honest review of their product.
